Gary Pratt Talks About His Best Performance And “A Song You Can Drink A Beer To” In This Exclusive!

Congratulations on the success of your latest single, “A Song You Can Drink A Beer To.” What inspired you to record that particular song?

When I heard the song, I knew I wanted to record it because it’s a song everyone can relate to.  No matter what you are experiencing in life, be it good or bad, you always need a song to drink a beer to.  Music can take you places in life!  It was co-written by Reba’s niece and that is just an added benefit.

Do you play any instruments, other than being an amazing vocalist?

Not really.  I dabble in piano and guitar.  Back in High School I played Saxaphone, but have not touched it in years.

Were you involved with music as a teenager?  bands back then?  How did you get started?

Yes I was involved…all I did was music, I was in bands with musicians alot older than me. Actually that was a benefit because I got more experience by playing out in clubs and festivals.  Of course my parents always had to be there but they have always been supportive. I feel that if I was in bands with people my own age, I would have just been in the basement or garage.  I didn’t get invovled in any high school activties unless it was musical.  Singing and writing consumed me….I love it now and I loved it then.  I was a High School Student during the week but on the weekends I was an Entertainer.

How would you describe your brand of music to someone who has never heard of Gary Pratt?

Country of course.  It could be described and a mix of todays country blended with older country with a twist of steel guitar.  Songs about life and music that everyone can relate to.  I love uptempo, ballads and I am partial to duets.  Love having a girl on stage with me.

How would you describe a Gary Pratt fan?

Big-hearted, God-loving, lovable, dedicated  and kind.  Many of my fans that follow me on a regular basis become friends  and they are truly a part of my life.  I am so grateful for my Fans and Blessed to have their continued support.

What gives you the most joy when you are on stage?

Silence when I’m singing a ballad, people dancing when I sing an up-tempo song, people singing along to my songs and interacting with the audience.

Tell us about your best performance you’ve ever had?  How about worst?

I would say singing at the Rocky Gap Music Festival with a band I was in -Blu River.   The stage was enormous with all the large screens and the people there were all there for the Country Music.  I also sang at the pre-stages at the CMA fest in Nashville-  the excitement and the energy from the fans is unbelievable.  The worst?  I am trying to think…..nothing coming to mind right now.

What is the highlight of your music career, so far?

This new album.  I am finally getting heard.  The response that I am getting is awesome.  I am enjoying this ride.  I am up for the Joise Music Awards and up for 3 Awards through the International Singer Songwriter Association.  That is really exciting.

What does Gary Pratt like to do when he’s not making music?

I work.  I have another business and that keeps me extremely busy.  My life consists of my business and my music.  I also love the beach and try to get there anytime I can.

What is up next for you in 2021?

This album has a lot of life left in it.  I would like to produce an actual video for a few songs on the new album.  In addition to that, I plan on co-writing with some known writers and  including some Christian songs in the mix.

Thanks Gary!  We appreciate the time…
